The Overwatch free trial did indeed start yesterday. If you're on PC, try these steps to play:

1. Download and install the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App.
2. Create a free Blizzard account, or log in with your existing account.
3. Once the Blizzard app launches, click the Overwatch icon.
4. Select your region from the drop-down menu, then click Install.
5. Once installed, click Play to begin.

You likely have an older version of the desktop app, /u/exoskeletalarcher. Try reinstalling it using these steps.
