Can I redeem a WoW Shadowlands Code from an AMD Promotion to a starter account?

Hovercraft-FickleHello! I am a newbie trying to get into WoW. I received a WoW Shadowlands code from the GPU I bought and planning to redeem it on my starter account. I currently can't avail a subscription now but I am planning to get a subscription next month.
Do I redeem the Shadowlands code now on my currently starter account or wait for my subscription next month before I redeem my Shadowlands code? Any answers would be highly appreciated.
