Playing with Friend on console

I play on PC. Do I have to buy a console and another copy of the game to play with my friend who plays on console?

Hello Blitze,
Cross-play between different platforms is unfortunately not available as already mentioned by Mellzor. There are currently no plans to add a cross-play function.
