The classic fake egg in bush and real egg out in the open switcheroo.

Hi u/CoreDump_ch,

I believe this is a Murky specific issue. He is trying to place his fake egg (probably in a nearby bush or something) and it is getting interrupted by how the follow behavior works now. Should be something we can address and I will make sure we also check on similar abilities that may cause this problem (Junkrat's traps come to mind).

Thanks so much for this report and thank you for playing!

I am in a game with a Brightwing A.I. right now, he's just afk at base. Only leaves base when someone alive pings him.

This is the intended behavior.

We decided to lean into giving you more control over the AI by removing some of their autonomy in situations where they are replacing a human player.

If you ping them, they should follow you and behave similarly to how they used to, assisting you in fights and at objectives. They will drink from fountains or go to the altar if it is nearby, but otherwise just stick to you like glue (even if low on health, so un-ping them if you want them to go back and heal)

If no one pings them, that hero will wait in the fountain until the player reconnects or until someone pings it.

Hey! Just had a game where someone DC'ed from minute one, and while obviously not ideal it gave me a lot of time to try out the new AI leashing. Overall, I like it (and thank you guys so much for taking the time to improve it!), but I have two complaints/suggestions.

  1. The behavior when the player the AI is leashed to dies is somewhat frustrating. Experienced several teamfights where the leashed player dies and the AI backs off and hearths while still full health, because none of the other players still alive had the presence of mind to re-leash the AI mid-teamfight. I'd much prefer a change where, if the leashed player dies, the AI automatically leashes to another allied player within some range. If there's none, only then hearth back.

  2. I really wish i could ping on the ground rather than just on myself. Now that I have (partial) control of the AI, most of the time i wanted it to safe-soak close to its towers, but it wouldn't stay unless I also stayed, which is non-optimal if I'm just looking to have a body in the lane. Really I just wanted to be able to issue primitive attack move commands to the AI -- would it be possible for the leashed player to do that with the ping system?

Thanks for reading.

EDIT: Re: #2, what I really want is to have Rexxar's D but for AIs, but I understand that adding a dedicated button is too clunky, so hopefully it could just be added into the existing ping control.

Thanks for the feedback! Glad to hear the current direction is working for you.

1: This may be something we want to address. Thanks for the report -- I will bring this up internally.

2: This is trickier, because we don't actually want the AI to function as a Misha for you. It will always be a disadvantage to have someone drop from the game, and having an AI follow you is more like a stop-gap in this regard. It isn't intended to let you play two characters. I will bring it up though, there may be more we want to do here.
