On behalf of all of us at Blizzard, thank you for joining us for BlizzConline! Our goal was to channel the spirit of BlizzCon into an online show that captured the excitement and fellowship we look forward to every year. We hope you enjoyed all of the panels, exhibitions, and other events during the show as much as we enjoyed bringing them to you—and as we celebrate 30 years of Blizzard gaming together, we’re looking forward to all of the adventures still to come.

Read on for just a few highlights from the show.

The Big Game News

Diablo II: Resurrected, a faithful remaster of the classic action-RPG and its award-winning expansion Lord of Destruction, is coming later this year to Windows PC and consoles. Sign up now at www.diablo2.com for a chance to participate in upcoming public testing on PC.

Hearthstone is set to kick off another jam-packed year of content with the Year of the Gryphon. The new Hearthstone year will feature a new Core set of cards designed to shake up the game, and will introduce the Classic format, which will let players craft decks and compete using the original Hearthstone cards as they were when the game launched in 2014.

The first Hearthstone expansion of 2021 is Forged in the Barrens, inspired by the iconic World of Warcraft locale where millions of adventurers began forging their legends. Get ready for life in the Barrens with new mechanics like Ranked Spells, the new Frenzy keyword, and a host of powerful Legendary mercenary minions.

Coming later this year is Hearthstone Mercenaries, a single-player and competitive game mode in which players collect mighty characters from the Warcraft universe and level them up in tactical battles. Mercenaries will feature strategic RPG gameplay and roguelike missions that provide a fresh set of challenges every time you play.

Chains of Domination, the first major content update for Shadowlands, is coming to World of Warcraft later this year. There’s also all-new charity pet program in the works that will grant all modern WoW players Bananas the monkey and Daisy the sloth once donation goals are met.

On the WoW Classic front, Burning Crusade Classic is coming later this year. All players with an existing World of Warcraft subscription can jump into this authentic recreation of the game’s award-winning first expansion at no additional cost.

Players got a behind-the-scenes look at Overwatch 2, which granted a glimpse of how the game has evolved since its unveiling at BlizzCon 2019. Highlights included details on the game’s long-term progression system, a first look at some of the new locations in the sequel, and a work-in-progress sneak peek at new looks for some of Overwatch’s most popular heroes.

Community Showcase Winners

This sort of celebration wouldn’t be complete without the community flooring us with their passion and creativity. We’d like to extend huge congrats to the winners of the following categories, and heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated. This is what BlizzCon is all about.

Steve Deering, Chloe Leis, and Anna Levine took home first prize in the Digital Storytelling Contest with “Remotewatch,” a lighthearted vignette that depicts some of our favorite heroes making it work while working from home.

Zhong Yang won the Art Contest with “Bad Girls,” a stunning rendition of some of Blizzard’s deadliest women.
