End game is entirely broken and will kill the game for hardcores and casuals alike

General Discussion

This is from the perspective of members and leadership of a OCE region semi-hardcore company. We are capable players who’ve been following the game from alpha and CBT. We are organised and currently undefeated at war with a 14 streak.

New World’s end game is broken by bugs, missing content and extremely poor design decisions. The sentiment I am putting forward is not hyperbole, not drama, it’s not the impatient whinging of sweaty no lifers. We are adults who are passionate about the game and this opinion is widely shared amongst our members and other people at end game with us.

The game is going to die if the end game loop does not get priority attention and left in this state. The fact these issues exist at all is mind blowing.

1: Azoth staff bug. T4 & T5 corruptions cannot be cleared, preventing access to materials to craft tuning orbs for expeditions & arenas. Each player can initiate two runs per end-game expedition or arena and that’s it until this is fixed. Ignore the “it’s one orb per five players.” This is false maths. If the run fails, if the tank disconnects, if people decide to grief by forming group and then abandoning to burn someone’s orb, each player gets ONLY TWO CHANCES to initiate a run.

The ripple effect of the staff bug is being ignored and is #1 priority for endgame PvE content right now.

2: Outpost rush. This is the ONLY access for organised PvX content for small groups of players that has some control to competition to put entrants on a level playing field. Smaller companies or groups who don’t get war invites have world PvP only to access as this mode is simply not in the game.

3: Insane decisions made by developers on defence to invasions. There is no logic in this. Invasions happen more than twice a week on a single territory and penalty for failure, in our case with upgrades, is 80k gold and four days of upgrade progress lost. For two invasions in which we have control of only TEN PLAYERS OF FIFTY INVOLVED IN THE DEFENCE. We have held the most viable territories since launch, we are #1 on the server and we are bleeding our treasury because of this absurd system.

An opposing faction member can join, take all the siege repair parts, and the invasion is instantly lost. They can AFK on siege equipment and it is instantly lost. The company in possession of the territory cannot control or prevent this. We can’t organise groups for tank/healers. We cannot control who is involved in the defence of our territory. This is happening CONSTANTLY.

The only invasion clears are happening due to bugs which prevent spriggans/brutes from attacking and they stand still.

This removes any reason for a company to expand as it simply exposes to more invasions that can’t be controlled or defended.

4: Mass report bans. A 10-15 player contingent can coordinate reports on leaders of enemy companies and instantly sabotage their play with no repercussions. If Amazon doesn’t fix this system as a priority, we will gladly show how easily we can shut down a company at critical moments on ANY server with the tools provided to griefers in game.

5: General game breaking bugs. Several 580 GS corrupted weapon quests are rife with bugs and can’t be completed eg. warhammer. Influence stacking during invasions, PvP token caps being locked at incorrect levels preventing players access to their endgame gear, revive bugs preventing players from being included in ANY group content due to permadeath on knockdown. It is seriously bizarre how poorly polished the game systems are and how little AGS care about the damage it is doing to their most loyal and invested players.

6: Obscure loot grinding system ala Destiny 2 loot score which binds new drops based on the highest level dropped previously. The only way to increase dropped gear is by fighting high level elites, of which the ONLY SOURCE is Myrkgard in Shattered Mountain due to the previous bugs outlined. This is the ONLY PLACE for an endgame player to improve in a meaningful way.

Do you think the casual player base, or the hardcore player base, is going to enjoy staying here for weeks or months? One small area of one zone, fighting the same mobs, unable to access other parts of the game, bleeding funds due to ridiculous logistic systems on invasions and sabotage from rivals where the tools for such poor behaviour are LITERALLY BAKED INTO THE GAME?

AGS need to get in front of this. There must be an answer or players are going to disappear very quickly, including the casual player base, when they arrive at end game and find it DOESN’T EXIST.

The priority is not fixing Barkimedes, it isn’t fixing treasure chests in fishing, it isn’t for fixing inconsequential spelling errors or the other irrelevant points in the 1.02 patch notes.

FIX THE END GAME!

I agree with you that this whole thread actually contains a lot of articulate and constructive feedback.
I apologize if it feels like we’re silent on these issues, mostly because we are focused on the headlines items impacting the most people, like character transfers.
But I will capture all the items surfaced in this thread and we’ll work to get some updates on them for you folks. Thanks again for taking the time to share these points, it is very appreciated.
